Belvedair on Radio-Canada: building ecologically for a sustainable future

July 23rd, 2025

On July 16, Belvedair had the pleasure of taking part in a report broadcast on ICI Première's Ça nous regarde program. Directed by journalist Marie-Christine Bouillon, the segment focused on the construction of ecological homes in Quebec, a subject we've been working on since 2007.

Patrick Ranger, General Manager and co-founder of Belvedair, presented our approach to sustainable construction: a way of building that puts environmental intelligence and resident comfort at the heart of every project.

A eco-friendly home is first and foremost a well-designed home

“What we look at most is the result,” Patrick Ranger explains in the feature. At Belvedair, we aim for reduced energy consumption, better water management, a healthy indoor environment and sustainable materials. The result: comfortable, more resilient homes that last longer.

Each home is carefully designed in harmony with its site and the needs of its occupants. "We have an in-house architectural team. In general, we do custom construction, but more and more we're building models from our catalog," explains Patrick.

Passive solar orientation, choice of materials, insulation and waterproofing are all designed to maximize energy performance. On the site visited by the Radio-Canada team, you can see our attention to detail: durable sheet metal roofing, membranes around openings to prevent infiltration, a high-performance vapour barrier to limit air loss... every gesture counts!

Building sustainably means building for the future

By choosing materials with high thermal inertia and triple-glazed windows, we optimize the natural thermal comfort of homes. “Heavy materials act as a kind of battery: they accumulate the sun's heat and then redistribute it,” explains Patrick Ranger.

But beyond technical performance, we also take a long-term view. "If we want to renew our real estate stock in Quebec intelligently, we have to build better. Sustainable construction," he asserts.

Recognition that reflects our mission

We're proud to have been able to showcase our expertise and our vision of sustainable housing in this Radio-Canada report. This media showcase underlines the importance of building differently, to meet tomorrow's climatic, social and economic challenges.

At Belvedair, we firmly believe that every home built with care is a positive contribution to a healthier, more sustainable future.
