Hameau MacKenzie, Sainte-Sophie
Belvedair is a partner in an eco-neighborhood project in the Laurentians, the Hameau Mackenzie!
A 2-phase development, the first phase of which includes 15 large plots of land intended for the construction of highly energy-efficient houses reflecting the values of the 21st century: respect for nature, protection of the forest and efficient use of resources.
The project includes 3 residential lots of 4 hectares which are subject to a private conservation easement supported by an organization recognized by the Ministry of the Environment.
The other lots of 2,000 to 4,000 square meters must also be developed with priority given to maximum forest cover, especially on the side strips of the land in order to protect the privacy of the owners.
Line and Pierre, the promoters of this project, want the construction of highly energy efficient ecological houses to be built next to this magnificent protected mature forest.
Belvedair is proud to have been chosen to be one of the 2 official builders of this beautiful project in the Laurentians.
This new eco-responsible neighborhood is located in Ste-Sophie surrounded by nature and close to all services:
- A grocery store, pharmacy and SAQ 6 minutes away
- 2 preschool and primary schools 6 minutes away
- A cycle path (the P’tit train du Nord) 7 minutes away
- A private secondary school 9 minutes away
- Cinemas and a shopping center (Carrefour du Nord) 12 minutes away

What are the timelines required to plan and build a high-performance home?
You should allow a minimum of two months for project planning and at least four months for construction.
However, the time required for construction varies from one house to another (dimensions, finishes, features, etc.), from one lot to another (constraints, access, relief), and even from one city to another (permit issuance period) or from one season to another (weather constraints). Your advisor will give you an overview at the planning stage, and as the start of construction work nears, your construction project manager will give you a schedule. Regular follow-ups will also be carried out throughout the project.
What are the various stages of the project?
The project has three main stages:
- Project analysis: finding a concept that meets your needs and budget. Free of charge, except for the site visit.
- Architectural phase: choosing a plan from our portfolio or creating a customized plan with our architectural department.
- Construction phase.
Do you have land available for short-term rental?
Yes. Les Quais du Sommet in Labelle allow short-term rental.
Am I required to do business with Belvedair to build on one of your plots?
No, we have chosen not to be the only builder authorized on our lots.
If you wish to use another builder or build your own home, you will simply have to comply with an architectural charter designed to ensure that:
- the houses blend in with their surroundings;
- surfaces not affected by the work are maintained, and that the affected areas are restored using natural, sustainable landscaping;
- the overall appearance of the homes is harmonious to ensure value for the owners.
Can I have my house built on my own land?
Absolutely! It’s Belvedair’s specialty!
How much does an eco-friendly home cost?
The cost of owning an eco-friendly home is lower than that of a standard home, as energy savings and reduced maintenance costs quickly outweigh the additional construction costs. Although eco-friendly features add about 4% to 6% to the cost, the energy savings exceed the additional mortgage payment.
